Composed by Daniel Hay. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Individual part. 2 pages. Daniel Hay Music #752007. Published by Daniel Hay Music (A0.1151804).

The composer says, "There is a tragic story lurking behind Heartwood Lament. It is floating in my brain, in a language I can't understand, but it would be a true tragedy if I left the music buried in my mind. It had to come out." This piece is for treble instruments. The lowest note of the main piece is F4 so is playable in most instrumental ranges. It has an alternate extended ending that requires instruments that can play lower, to C4. The mp3 file sample is voiced as Tenor Recorder.
