We proudly offer a dramatic, appealing and accessible cantata celebrating the birth of Christ, as seen through the eyes of the elderly patriarch, Simon. The work opens with a gentle and ravishing prelude based on Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine, performed by organ and harp alone. The narration by Jason Doyle Fairbanks is highly original, but firmly based in scripture reference. The score is filled with well-crafted and exciting arrangements of hymns and carols, climaxing with a joyous, sweeping setting of Adolphe Adam's famous O Holy Night. Other carols include The Snow Lay on the Ground, Coventry Carol, Silent Night, From Heaven Above to Earth I Come and He Is Born. Performance time: approximately 35 minutes.
