It seeks to capture the wonder of the imagination when exploring the natural world, and celebrates the whimsy, delight, humor, and calming transcendence of our planet’s sublime beauty. The piece is an invitation to enter the woods and wetlands with the fresh eyes of a child. Laid out in an ABA format, the first and last sections are characterized by a buoyant, adventurous ascending dotted-note theme tossed back and forth between instruments. The contrasting middle section is characterized by a lyrical calm.
