This piece was written by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1880 to celebrate the Russian military's defense against Napoleon in 1812. It first became a popular American patriotic piece when it was used by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra to celebrate the United States of America's 200th birthday in 1976. This arrangement makes the piece more approachable for less experienced players. It includes an easier key, simplified harmonies, optional note names and chord symbols to assist in learning it.
