Selected Chopin mazurkas have been recast as various types of duple-time dances (tango, polka, galop, jig, walking song, hora, czardas...) for the piano. The pieces are suitable for accompaniment in ballet and character classes, and, it is hoped, may be of interest as explorations of the "folk" and "character" element to be found nowhere more explicitly in Chopin's music than in his mazurkas.
