Composed by Albert Franz Doppler. Arranged by Tara Borchert. Romantic Period. 29 pages. Tara Borchert #29061. Published by Tara Borchert (A0.904134).Originally for flute, violin, and piano, Doppler's lively and virtuosic Duettino americain is now available for two solo flutes and woodwind quintet! Composed in 1880, Duettino americain is a theme and variations on three iconic American tunes - Hail Columbia, The Star Spangled Banner, and Yankee Doodle. At the time, both Hail Columbia and The Star Spangled Banner were unofficial national anthems of the United States. As a result, The Star Spangled Banner is in a different meter than the modern official version, and Doppler's interpretation is much more melodic than the current militaristic performance practice.
