Debussy is most definitely one of my favorite composers. I have already written two solo piano works inspired by his music: Préludes (2020) and Huit Épigraphes (2021).
Lately I have been listening to a playlist on Amazon called "Debussy: Complete Works for Piano" with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
It is a very long playlist: 5 hours and 59 minutes!!! There are tons of gorgeous music, but the work that stood out from the playlist was "Douze Études ... Dedication, à la mémoire de Frédéric Chopin." There is so much variety and invention in these twelve pieces that it immediately inspired me to take on a new solo piano cycle emulating (once again) the music of Debussy. I will be using the same titles as those in his work, but I will try to invent new renditions that are very different from the original.
