Danny Boy is one of the most famous Irish ballad. The words were written by English songwriter Frederic Weatherly and usually set to the Irish tune of the Londonderry Air. There are various suggestions as to the true meaning of Danny Boy. Some have interpreted the song to be a message from a parent to a son going off to a war or uprising (as suggested by the reference to "pipes calling glen to glen") or leaving as part of the Irish diaspora.

In this arrangement, this famous ballad was made into a six minutes symphonic work featuring orchestra and choir. The colors of the orchestral texture were made to depicted the text, for example, the sound of the bagpipe and the funeral march. In the middle of the piece, the famous piece by Schubert, Ave Maria was quoted as a referral to the text ("and kneel and say an Ave there for me").

The Thai composer/arranger, Viskamol Chaiwanichsiri studied at College of Music, Mahidol University. He is the active conductor, composer and music educator based in Thailand. His music has been performed in Thailand, Singapore, France and Croatia.
