According to Greek mythology, she helped Theseus defeat the minotaur in the labyrinth, only to be abandoned by him later. She and the god Dionysus fell in love, and this constellation is her wedding crown. It is known in Celtic mythology as Caer Arianrhod: the Castle of Arianrhod, the magical Welsh goddess.; Other cultures associate different stories with this constellation.
