In 1856, Bruckner composed the motet Ave Maria for choir, organ and violoncello for his old place of work, St. Florian. The work is quasi basso continuo in the style of late baroque Austrian sacred music. The intricate, polyphonically relaxed movement contains a short section for solo soprano and solo alto. The centrepiece is an expressive threefold "Jesus" a capella invocation. Score available separately - see item CA.338700.
