By Jackie DeShannon. By Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Octavo. 7 pages. Scott S. Stewart #774361. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1174196).

“What the World Needs Now Is Love” was written by the creative team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1965, two years before the ‘summer of love’. It was first offered to Dionne Warwick and Gene Pitney, who both turned it down, and it was Jackie DeShannon who first recorded it and brought it to popularity.  It has since been played millions of time on the radio, was performed in over 225 movies and television shows, and has become an “anthem’ in support of gun control and LGBTQ+ issues.  This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble to be performed a cappella.  Performance time: 3:00+-.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
