Combining “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “When the Saints Go Marching In”, this jazz anthem celebrating the music of New Orleans, is sure to be a favorite! The piece opens with a somber bluesy Soprano solo of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” which progresses into a call and response conversation between the soloist and the choir. At the half way point, the tone of the piece changes to a joyous jazz celebration as the choir takes the lead singing “When the Saints Go Marching In.” To close, the soloist and choir combine singing these partner songs together with a rousing conclusion. The arrangement requires piano accompaniment and a small jazz ensemble of Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba and Drums.
