♫ The end of Isaiah 8, continuing into chapter 9 predicts the horror of the Assyrian army’s invasion of Israel and Judah that would end ancient Israel and greatly threaten Judah. In the middle of this dark episode, Isaiah describes the coming Messiah. In a poetic chiasma, Isaiah describes Messiah’s authority and gives us 4 names of Messiah. Each name reveals the divine and human characteristics of Messiah.
