Although it could do with a more modern cover photo, the inside is wonderfully instructive for someone teaching him-/ herself. I liked this book because it has a very calm and clear layout, gives a drawn picture of the fingering for each note on the recorder that is taught in...

this course and uses nice sounding pieces of music, including folk songs, medieval and classical pieces. The CD is helpful for checking one plays the correct tune and of course for playing along with. I am a complete beginner at recorder playing, although I do have some background in reading basic music (from past singing experience) and it took me about 4 months to finish this book.
