Although a dark common thread runs through the whole chart, the chart uses a 3/2 driving bass groove, sudden fortissimo a cappella moments, nearly complete reharmonization, key changes, and about every other arranging technique I could think of to present this well-known song with a melancholy lyric from many different angles, providing a probing challenge for any skilled vocal jazz ensemble and their rhythm section to interpret.
