This enduringly popular seasonal song has long been a Christmas favourite, even though the lyrics don't mention 'Christmas' at all. The words were by Dick Smith (1901-1935) and the music by Felix Bernard (1897-1944). The inspiration was reportedly avisit by Smith to Honesdale's (his hometown) Central Park when it was covered in snow.

The first recording was made by Richard Himber's Ritz-Carlton Orchestra in 1934. The same year Guy Lombardo and his band, The Royal Canadians, took the song to number 2 in the US Billboard Chart, where it stayed for 9 weeks. It has since beenrecorded by over 150 artists, the most successful versions being by Perry Como and the Andrews Sisters, both released in 1946.

Winter Wonderland war und ist eines der beliebtesten Lieder zur Weihnachtszeit, und das, obwohl "Weihnachten" gar nicht im Text vorkommt. Der Text stammt von Dick Smith (1901-1935), die Musik von Felix Bernard (1897-1944). Seine Inspirationfand Smith angeblich bei einem Gang durch den schneebedeckten Stadtpark in seinem Heimatort Honesdale.

Die erste Aufnahme von Winter Wonderland entstand 1934 mit Richard Himbers Ritz-Carlton Orchestra. Im selben Jahr brachten Guy Lombaro und seine Band The Royal Canadians Winter Wonderland auf Platz 2 der US Billboard Charts, wo es sichneun Wochen lang hielt. Seither wurde das Lied von mehr als 150 Kunstlern aufgenommen. Die erfolgreichsten Versionen waren die von Perry Combo und von den Andrew Sisters, die beide 1946 erschienen.

Dans les pays anglophones, la chanson Winter Wonderland est toujours populaire l'epoque des fetes de fin d'annee, bien qu'elle ne mentionne pas Noel. Les paroles sont de Dick Smith (1901-1935) sur une musique de Felix Bernard (1897-1844),Smith aurait ete inspire par la vue du parc de Honesdale (sa ville natale), aux Etats-Unis, lorsqu'il etait couvert de neige.

En decembre 1934, Guy Lombardo et son orchestre, The Royal Canadians, placerent la chanson en deuxieme place du hit-parade dujournal Billboard, qu'elle occupa pendant neuf semaines. Depuis elle a ete reprise par plus de 150 artistes, les versions les plus celebres etant celles de Perry Como et des Andrews Sisters, toutes deux sorties en 1946.
