Horovitz was commissioned to write this brilliant work by the 'Shell Harmonie Amsterdam'. The style Horovitz avails himself of differs from his earlier work 'Bacchus on Blue Ridge' and is mainly based on harmonies and highly inventive experiments in instrumentation, which are comparable to his instrumentation of Bach's 'Fantasia and Fugue in G Minor'.
