  • August 04, 2012 hindemith trumpet sonata

One of the major repertoire works of the twentieth century. Hindemith explores the trumpets tone and expressive mediums in this challenging work. Technically reasonably set but tremendous demands on the musicianship of the performer. Wonderful stuff as every note in this masterful work is a gem.

  • December 04, 2008 A piece that needs true emotion

While this piece is a bit of an endurance test for your face (especially the 'all men must die' choral at the end of the 3rd) this piece is so emotionally draining. written by an exiled german at the start of World War II, Hindemith loved his country but hated...

what the nazis were doing and wrote this piece as a protest to the movement. The piece has several high Bs in it and stuff below the staff. the notes aren't hard, the constant playing and emotional strain, that's where it'll get you. oh. and the trumpet and piano parts seldom line up. find a recording to know how everything fits. Beautiful piece! approx 15 min for all 3 movements. have a german dictionary handy
