"Thus Saith the Lord" (sometimes incorrectly written "Thus Sayeth the Lord") features the cello accompanied by the other three instruments. Note that this song is transposed to E minor to accommodate the lowest note of the cello.
"But Who May Abide" features the first violin as solo and the cello as continuo, with the full quartet playing the ripieno.
The finale, "Hallelujah Chorus", gives all four instruments equal time in the spotlight.
