Composed by Thomas Moore (1779-1852). Arranged by John Pinno. Classical,Concert,Contemporary,Holiday,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 4 pages. John Pinno #2835657. Published by John Pinno (A0.775410).

An arrangement for voice and classical guitar of the beautiful song written by the Irish poet and songwriter Thomas Moore (1779-1852) in 1805. He first published it in 1813. The song's first verse evokes a sad and wistful feeling on observing the solitary "Last Rose of Summer". In the second verse the poet feels the last blossom is pining for "all her lovely companions" who are now faded and gone, and in an act of mercy commits the last rose to the ground to once again be with it's mates who had gone on. With the last verse, there is an especially poignant sentiment and the lyrics become intensely personal, as Moore projects forward to his declining years, when many of his loved ones and friends will have passed away, and he is left to carry on alone.

The song's small range makes it appropriate for a number of voice ranges. Should the melody seem too low for any singer, the guitarist can use a capo to raise the pitch.
