The lyrics are based on the II Chronicles 7:14-16 and Isaiah 57:14-15 texts (“If my people who are called by my name shall seek my face, then I will hear from heaven …”). The lyrics resolve victoriously in the end, with the text, “His mercy endures forever, Amen!” Composed for an Advanced Intermediate choir, the piece has an arching chorale in the middle sections where the sopranos are expected to sustain a relatively high tessitura.
