2015 Piano Contest 'The Hill' is an area in Boulder to the immediate west of the University of Colorado. There are residential areas, shops, and restaurants there. I remember one night in the late 1960's going to bed to the sounds and flashing lights of police helicopters hovering over that area. Tensions had been mounting between merchants on the Hill and hippies, who would often be in big groups and block the entrance to shops. There was a standoff between them that night. I tried to reflect that in a musical dialogue in the middle of this piano rag between those two groups. BMI www.patholmberg.com patholmberg@yahoo.com.
