I'm a public school music teacher in Utah looking for a book I could use in my guitar classes. I'm a percussionist, not a guitar player. I love this book. It's exactly what I've been looking for. The illustrations and pictures show positions clearly. There are...

no cheesy American folk songs. Most of the pieces have Spanish or Italian influence, which is what I want from a guitar book. There are no duets or other multiple-part pieces, but I'm willing to suupliment the book with ensemble music from other sources. There are counting and fret reminders throughout the book. Many of the songs have both melody and bass line. Some of the songs towards the end seem a bit difficult, but upon closer inspection are playable if the student masters the previous material. I haven't listened to the CD yet, but I'm sure it's a great help for the student. I definetly will use this book next year.

As a teacher I am always looking for material to help me teach students in a practical, organized and inspiring manner. The instructions and format are clear and concise... well thought out. Also the musical selections are such that a beginner can actually play some pleasant music very quickly. Thank...

I have nearly every method, trying to get inspired. This one got me going. The cd is a great help and the music that was selected to teach the the techniques was actually enjoyable to play unlike most Book I guitar methods

  • May 01, 2008 Great music , easy to follow

Recommended by my teacher. The cd really helps. It is not the usual Micky Mouse tunes. On the contrary, seems to really have a clear approach to getting the right hand working as well as learning the note reading basics.
