Great methods book that starts right off with some simple chords to get the songs going! I love the Hal Leonard method series because it gives online audio to play along with to ensure accuracy in reading the music and it just makes it more fun to be able to play with “others” while learning on your own. This book also covers a wide range of techniques to make sure you become a well-rounded guitarist. Great buy!

Have tried books before but all they taught were chords. This system teaches scales and note reading which, to my way of thinking are the essence of practical guitar playing. The online play along feature is inestimable at encouraging practice.

This a great method book for teaching guitar. I've used it for several students and they like it. It is pedagogically sound and the song selection covers a lot of genre.
