Violin 1 parts of the duos use third position. Duo 4, Just a Dream, also uses fifth position in the upper part. Though the pieces are short and may look easy, their execution offers challenges, given the transparency of the spiccato bowing and ornamentation techniques. I hope these duos from The Faerie Fiddler will provide an enjoyable supplement to spiccato, trills, and ornamentation studies.
