But it’s the trombone and tuba that primarily echo the nature of the composition and its ursine subject matter. This version of "Teddy Bears’ Picnic" is designed to fit anywhere in the brass quintet repertoire, but it can also enhance a children’s concert. Conforming to the opening stanza of the song’s lyrics-"If you go down in the woods today, you’d better go in disguise"-this arrangement is framed by a somewhat mysterious-sounding ostinato, so it fits into a Halloween performance as well.
