    Harp Player
    Difficulty Level:
  • July 21, 2021 A Classic Book for Learning the Harp

Sylvia Woods wrote this book decades ago, and it has withstood the test of time. While there are other books that are equally as excellent as Sylvia's, her ability to choose and arrange beautiful learning pieces is paramount to the book's success.

Sylvia Woods wrote this book over three decades ago when fewer people played the folk harp, but it's just as relevant as ever now. I have been using this book to teach myself and others, and I love it. The title of the book reflects a time when there...

were fewer harp teachers available, but you could also use this book with the help of a teacher. The learning curve is fairly steep, in that you progress to somewhat harder pieces quickly, so if you are new to music AND harp playing, you can use this book in conjuction with an easier book that Sheet Music Plus offers. But the book is so comprehensive compared to other manuals to teach folk harp, that I think you should not replace this book with an easier one.
