Despite the harmonic and rhythmic complexity, for the most part this arrangement retains the subdued reverence and lyricism of the original spiritual. Appropriate for university Christmas choral concerts, Christmas services (in churches with the requisite musical personnel and where people are comfortable with spirituals in church)...or just really awesome caroling!
