Suite do Vale was initially composed for a YoungSymphony Orchestra in 2012. In 2017, it was re-orchestrated for Symphonic Bandby the composer. In the same year, the piece was among the finalists of theWASBE Composition Contest in the "Educational" category and had itsfirst audition on July 19, 2017, in the concert hall of TivoliVredenburg(Utrecht / Neederlands) with the Orchestra of the Dutch Customs under theconductor Björn Bus.

The piece wasbased on 4 folk songs from the region of the “Jequitinhonha”, state of MinasGerais, Brazil. These themes were taken from the book "Cancioneiro doJequitinhonha", a compilation of themes from the region by musicologistDaniel Magalhães.

Themovements:

Toque de Mastro (mast music): a festive theme thatrepresents the opening or annunciation of religious festivals of the interiorrepresented by rituals with flagpoles

Dois Engenho (two mills): a typical representationof the sounds of cane mills moved by oxen

Veizin Cansado (little old man): represents thecalm and quiet life of the little old men who live in the small villages ofBrazil

Carvão Queimou (coal burned), representing the heatand danger of the workers with the handling of the coal kilns.
