The piece was originally written for string trio (Violin, Viola and Cello). Like many of Franz Schubert’s works, it also remained unfinished. It consists of two movements: Allegro (finished) and Andante (unfinished).
Apart from a few necessary concessions to the technical capabilities of the saxophone, this arrangement closely follows the original, including articulation markings. Since the second movement only exists as a fragment, it is not part of this arrangement.
