Composed by Glyn Lehmann (music) Phil Cummings (lyrics). Pop,Rock. Octavo. 9 pages. Glyn Lehmann #3507399. Published by Glyn Lehmann (A0.510155).

The second song from the SPACE RACE song cycle, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, July 1969. Other songs are: Gagarin (Beyond Blue Sky), The Children of the World (July 1969) and Apollo 11 (Homecoming).

This song highlights the goal set by President Kennedy in 1962 to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade. It emphasises the 'can do' attitude of those who worked long and hard to make it happen. Having been beaten by Russia to be the first to launch a human into space, the race was on to get to the moon!

The uplifting, positive vibe is influenced by pop groups from the 1960s such as The Byrds and The 5th Dimension. More information at https://songlibrary.net/Space-Race
