Joseph Martin has masterfully joined two popular Advent carols, “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus” and “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day,” in an exciting quodlibet with a fantastic tenor solo. “Songs of the Promise,” from the cantata Canticle of Joy, is a fresh, lilting anthem of joyful anticipation – a nice change from the more somber, longing, “waiting in darkness” hymns often sung during Advent.
