I mourn for fallen sons and daughters,

For the fair ones dead by sin or sword.
I sing as Moroni, son of Mormon,
Only I from battles have survived,
Left alone for years to wander,
No friends or family left alive.
Soon the records I must bury
In the darkness of the earth,
Kept for centuries by the faithful,
Writings of eternal worth.
Yet, together we’ll join in singing,
When a happier day will come;
We’ve been shown a future time,
For God’s work is not yet done.
The sacred writings we’ve preserved
Will come forth in wondrous light;
From the earth our voices herald,
Speaking truth in power and might.
All who wish to share God’s plan
Of forgiveness, mercy, truth,
All who preach the restored Gospel,
Bringing to light words of worth;
Turn your hearts unto the Savior,
Hearken to our joyful call,
