Michele Winter's edition for double string orchestra is designed for groups at the Grade 3-3.5 level. After a brief introduction in common time, the sonata settles into triple meter with dance-like cadential hemiolas. Tutti sections alternate with antiphonal episodes and lead to a powerful coda in common time. Here's a chance to introduce your students and audiences to the thrill of antiphonal music.
