This Sonata is a cyclic piece for Bass Trombone and Piano with multi movements. It was writtenin a neoclassical style. The first movement Tribute to Myrta Silva, has the classical sonatastructure (exposition, development, and recapitulation), the periodicity of themes, melodies andtextures, and some moderns musical language, moods and rhythms from the Afro Caribbeanmusic. Its introduction starts with a melody inspired in a theme by Dr. Emanuel Dufrasne-González. This melody is developed and varied during the entire movement. The secondmovement Tribute to Dagmar Rivera, has the danza puertorriqueña’s structure or form(introduction, first theme, second theme, trio and recapitulation of the first theme), rhythms andstyles. Its introduction starts with a same melody of the first movement that was inspired in atheme by Dr. Emanuel Dufrasne-González. The third movement Tribute to Ruth Fernández andSylvia Rexach, has a structure or form similar to the structure of the danza puertorriqueña, but itstextures, rhythms and style are from the Latin Bolero and Cha cha chá. It featured somedeveloped variations from melodies of the first movement. The four movement Finale: Tributeto Amanda Antonia Miguel, has a free style structure that was inspired in El me mintió a popsong composed in the 1980’s by Amanda Miguel (the Argentinean- Mexican singer). Years later, the Chantelle Merengue Band recorded El me mintió by Amanda Miguel in the 1991 recordingalbum named Cada vez con más clase where it features the Cuban Guaguancó rhythms insteadthe original pop styles.
