SOLOS FOR YOUNG VIOLINISTS is a graded series that contains works ranging from elementary to advanced levels and represented an exciting variety of styles and techniques for violinists--a valuable listening resource for teachers and students of all ages. The piano tracks, recorded on the second side of each tape or the second half of each CD, give the violinists the opportunity to practice with accompaniments. This series can be used by any violinists and is supplementary to any method or course of study. Many of the pieces in this collection have long been recognized as stepping stones to the major violin repertoire, while others are newly published works

About Suzuki Method

The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess ability and that this ability can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment. All children learn to speak their own language with relative ease and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can be acquired as successfully. Suzuki referred to the process as the Mother Tongue Method and to the whole system of pedagogy as Talent Education. The important elements of the Suzuki approach to instrumental teaching include the following:an early start (aged 3-4 is normal in most countries); the importance of listening to music; learning to play before learning to read; -the involvement of the parent; a nurturing and positive learning environment; a high standard of teaching by trained teachers; the importance of producing a good sound in a balanced and natural way; core repertoire, used by Suzuki students across the world; social interaction with other children. Suzuki students from all over the world can communicate through the language of music./p

  • March 04, 2018 Great supplemental book

This is not a Beginner book. There are a few folk songs in the front of the book that are "easy", but the bulk of the book is level 3/4. Students love the pieces! Too bad the same pieces aren't in the cello book, so they could be...

    played together....

  • June 04, 2012 Violin Music

The music was just what we were looking for. It is a logical progression for young violinists, with a repertoire that all aspiring musicians should be familiar with. Very affordable. It was easy to find and order from your website. Thank you.

  • May 19, 2011 Purchased for Musicfest

I ordered this for my daughter who was preparing for Musicfest 2011 (in Spokane WA). This was recommended by her violin teacher, and it came very quickly, which was so helpful! We were also very pleased that the order came with the violin only book as well as the violin...

and piano book for the accompanist. At the competition, we noticed that nearly all of the other entrants were carrying the same book, so this must be a standard!

  • February 18, 2007 Great material !

I can only share my own, recent, experience with this material, all of which I purchased -- and the remarks of other teaches responding to my questions on forums. This material is really great; it's like "Suzuki, Phase II." The first books are not easy, at all. There is a...

chart on the inside cover(s) which indicates the level with respect to the Suzuki books. The first few pieces in Book 1 are Book 1-3 level, and the later half of the first book is around Book 4. So the second SYV book starts Book 4. I don't think anyone will object to my saying that. These books are generally thought of as being the intermediate step between Suzuki and beginner's works and the major works. This seems to be accurate to me, and it's quite a find to locate this stuff. Thanks! -- Connie
