Der Sohn des berühmten „Mannheimer Johann Stamitz lebte lange Zeit in Paris und Versailles, wo er alle seine Werke veröffentlichte – bis auf eine Ausnahme: Die Duos für zwei Querflöten op. 1 erschienen 1785 bei Schott in Mainz. Dieser Erstdruck war die Vorlage für die neue Schott-Ausgabe jener Kompositionen – unterhaltsame Stücke, an denen sich schon Schüler und Hobby-Flötisten als Duo erproben können.
