Welche Bedeutung ihnen Quantz selbst beimaß, zeigt der dreiseitige Vorbericht des Komponisten, der sich eingehend mit Nutzen und Komposition von Duetten befasst, aber auch mit dem praktischen Lehrzweck, und damit die Stücke als praktische Ergänzung zum „Versuch“ dokumentiert.
