NOEL NOUVELET -- this French Carol has a compelling quality to it; demanding repetition almost to the point where it's hard to decide when to end. But don't fear, this arrangement comes to an end after 4 verses with each verse increasing in intensity to a bold third verse before returning to a quieter, but brighter conclusion. Also, the last verse is in the key of A minor though the transition from E minor is so subtle it's almost imperceptible.

Fast or slow, you decide. Playing it fast gives the fingers a good workout and is a lot of fun for the performer, however, the listeners may prefer the more mellow sound produced when played at a somber tempo. The octaves and hand stretches of the third verse will force you to play slower at least for this one verse.

This arrangement is one of the 25 piano solos in the collection "Christmas Favorites, Book 1."
