Originally for violin and piano, this version was adapted for a string quartet where, in the first half of the work, the melody is played by the cello. After the initial moment, the first violin takes on the melody for itself, ending it in its lowest strings. The second violin and viola take care of the harmonic conductions following an ostinato. This song is ideal for many types of occasions, including being wonderful for chamber music recitals.
