Surrounded by the sea, Ireland has historically relied on its ships as a means of transportation, trade, fishing, and exploration. Soon Hee Newbold uses various instruments to convey the rocking of the boats as well as the waves in the water. The celtic melody shines throughout over an occasional drone in the bass voices. A pizzicato section adds color and intensity to this vibrant work for strings. Strongly consider this one for your next concert!

The Leavitt MS Advanced Orchestra played this at festival and got a 1 on it!! We are SO happy!! It was great sounding, the tone quality was great and it was pretty easy. The only thing that was hard about it was the tempo. It sounds different when you are...

playing it slow. But with a 90-100 quarter note beat tempo it sounds very Irish!! i recommend this for intermediate/advanced orchestras because it is in 6/8 TIME. The melody is amazing and I want ALL violists to try this piece.

This piece is great because each section gets to the melody at some point. The viola is really the backbone of this piece however with a little more of the melody.
