It contains both Christmas and non-Christmas melodies (The Lord's My Shepherd (BROTHER JAMES' AIR), Rise Up, Shepherds and Follow (FOLLOW), The King of Love My Shepherd Is (ST COLUMBA), He Shall Feed His Flock from Handel's Messiah, and Who Is He in Yonder Stall. The arrangement is unified by the underlying idea that God is our shepherd (Psalm 23) and maybe the angels came first to tell the glad tidings of great joy to the shepherds because our Lord has a special place in his heart for shepherds. Arranged for intermediate level string trio (Violin, Viola, Cello), each parts takes a turn playing the melody.
