By Brison, Everett, and Lincontang. By Brison, Everett, Golson, Harrell, and Soulas. Jazz. 1 listening CD. Published by Naive (NX.NJ625711).

A musicologist with a tremendous curiosity, Sangoma Everett has been established in France since 1979 and has always been a huge traveller, collecting and recording local tunes everywhere. His new trio album includes compo-sitions, such as Where Are Our Friends, Ma Byrd or Lani with Bastien (Brison), and a track enti-tled Debi as a tribute to the Indian sarod player Debi Prasad Gosh. It's a beautiful story of triangular jazz, a meet-ing full of harmony and humanity. Where the double bassist's - Christophe Lincontang, the experience and elegance of the American drum-mer Sangoma Everett (Dizzie Gillepsie, Clifford Jordan, Kirk Lightsey, Consuela & Bill Lee, Steve Grossman, La Velle and many others...), join talent and imagination to Bastien Brison's piano style, full of emotions. Where Are Our Friends opens the album on a wonderful and silky melody, almost pop. Debi and Frida nearly close it in a soft melancholy. It's, in fact, Brooklyn that concludes under a beautiful sun in New-York. We have in-between this remixed Moon Alley on brand new measures or The Born Frees, evocating the spring with its locomotive-like tempo. The San-goma Everett Trio exposes a cohesion, a kind of eternity and a striking or even breath-taking imagination.
