I found the arrangements to be very similar throughout the book: first the hymn striaght through, then maybe an octave higher, then the piano doing something a little different, then the violin. The variations were not particularily creative nor did I find them musically appealing. If someone can play violin...

in fourth or fifth position, as some of these pieces have, then certainly they can do something a little more exciting than what I just described. Too bad the hymns themselves are very nice. These arrangements might be OK for teaching purposes.I haven't tried other violin arrangments for hymns, but I did purchase and try piano arrangements (Hymns with Style, Hymns for Meditation, Praise Him!). These were all creative and "performable" in contrast to what I found this book to be.
