Rubank Elementary Method - Flute Piccolo

This is the best, most rounded series for flute and instrumental study. My father used it for his students and I used it and now I am using it for my own. None of the newly written books compare. Stick to what works.

this has to be my favorite beginning flute book. I've used it for the last 40 years with beginning flute students. It offers solid lessons that do not overwhelm the student at the start, yet, has more information than a regular band book. lessons include: fingering chart, keys 0...

-4 flats and sharps, rhythmic exercises, scales and arpeggios, extended range, various time signatures, duets and lovely short songs that relate to the lesson at hand. If the teacher feels like the student would benefit from more etudes, Rubank offers a supplementary book also that is wonderful. I would recommend this to any teacher or student of flute.

not also for intermediate or advanced level. It was the recommendation of the music teacher of my daughter - she is british - and in Germany we have not so good examples of flute excercises.

This was the choice of my excellent flute teacher years ago when I began. Years later, I've started to play again and find it useful to go back to an earlier study method. This and the Intermediate method are helpful to this elderly student.
