The majestic Rondeau from the opera Abdelazar has become one of Purcell's most famous tunes due to its use by Benjamin Britten as the theme for his set of symphonic variations known as A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. It is one of those melodies that once you have heard it you just can't get it out of your head.

Purcell a compose ce theme brillant pour la musique de scene de la piece Abdelazer ou la revanche du Maure (1693) d'Aphra Behn. Presque trois siecles plus tard, Benjamin Britten l'introduisit dans son œuvre symphonique The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (designee souvent par son sous-titre Variation & Fugue sur un Theme de Purcell) une partition pour un film documentaire, sorte de visite guidee des instruments de l'orchestre.
