SATB choir
Bogoroditse Devo. Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943). Choral octavo. With Language: Church Slavonic. Musica Russica #RA 028. Published by Musica Russica (MR.Ra-028).

Item Number: MR.Ra-028

Bogoroditse Devo by Sergei Rachmaninoff (18731943) is, very possibly, the most popular and widely performed piece of Russian Orthodox sacred music. Its graceful simplicity and pious reverence, which build to a mighty exclamation on the word raduysia (Rejoice!), move and stir the soul and spirit in way that few other pieces of sacred choral music are capable of doing. (Also available in arrangements for SSAA, SAB, and TTBB choirs, as well as in English translation for mixed choir.).

Rejoice, O Virgin is a wonderful extract from the All Night Vigil and the transliteration of the Cyrilic text is very good - even if you don't understand it you can sing it!

I conducted this song at a high school, and it went very well. It was a little challenging to learn, but when the had it sounded amazing. I strongly recommend this song large or small choirs.
