A highly original text imagines the dramatic scenes that unfold as Jesus prepares for His Passion. Grasping His destiny as the Lamb of God, Jesus sees His death in the elements of the Last Supper and in the reflections of the chalice. Musically profound, the main theme is brooding and mysterious, setting the scene. A mournful solo adorns the B section, accompanied by choral lushness.
