Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943)was a Russian composer and pianist of the late romantic era. He wrotesymphonies, concertos for piano and orchestra, solo piano works (including Prelude in C# minor), choral works, operas, and chamber music. Keeping true to the harmonies, texture and timbre of the original piano composition, this magical piece has been arranged to be performed on bass guitar. The contrasting passages of this arrangement includethe forceful opening utilising double stopping and open strings, with theintroduction of a thumb and hammer-on technique in the delicate and spritelymiddle section.
