Horace's Odes I 11 (Tu ne quaesieris / Carpe diem), I 29 (Ad Iccium), I 5 (Ad Pyrrham), and I 22 (Integer vitae) are set to music as Lieder for voice and piano. The songs are to be sung in Latin. Ancient verse meter and word accentuation have been carefully observed as well as the general mood of each poem. An appendix provides German and English translations of the poems, a guide to the pronunciation of Latin, and a bibliography on the musical reception of Horace.
